‘That Something Blue….’
Whilst there are some brides who observe every wedding day superstition and tradition, some will be bothered by just one or two. The most popular superstition is probably the “something blue” and so it is entirely understandable that over the years we have heard of discreet, daring and downright drastic ways of honouring this tradition.
In Sarah Elizabeth Bridal we sell a variety of gorgeous garters which have a delicate blue bow on them.
For those of you who don’t have any idea of how to incorporate your “something blue” into your day, and garters don’t fit your brief, here are some other ideas. Have a blue silk bow sewn into your dress; wear gorgeous sapphires in your ears (they don’t have to be real; there is some great costume jewellery out there). Pop your Dad’s old (clean) blue hankie in your corset (this also covers the “something old” and “something borrowed” bit too!); put a little blue flower in amongst your bouquet; use a blue button at the base of the bouquet tie; wear blue knickers (but only the seam free type!!); have a little blue ribbon tied into your hair; wear your favourite blue-stoned ring on your right hand – anything from an aquamarine to a sapphire would do!
We are very happy to help you arrange your “something blue” if you are struggling to come up with ideas and we can source ribbon or blue material if you have something specific in mind. Please don’t hesitate to contact Sarah Elizabeth Bridal for help, advice and ideas.
